About the Siblings
Meet a wonderful set of five siblings- Angelica, Maria, Guadalupe, Ramon, and Dalia! The first thing you will notice about this group is their contagious, beautiful smiles and fun personalities. Though they have all shown a lot of resilience, these kids need parents who are knowledgeable about the effects of neglect and trauma on children. A family who can help them adjust to living together as brother and sisters and help them meet their individual needs will be a nice fit for them. These children will do best with a family that will keep them active and encourage them to excel in their own ways.Angelica, or Angie as she prefers to be called, is a pre-teen who is emerging as a lovely young lady. She has a quiet demeanor and is shy upon first meeting new people. However, after she is more comfortable, she is engaging and insightful. She talks about the typical pre-teen interests but has a serious side to her as well. She very much wants to be adopted and wishes for nothing more than a permanent home. Angie loves to do arts and crafts, enjoys swimming, hiking, and going to the beach. She is a pleasure to be around and shows a lot of responsibility in her foster home. In school she is receiving support to help her continue to succeed in reading and comprehension. She has made great progress, but can be unsure of herself. Successful adoptive parents can support her by helping her with homework and advocating for her educational achievement. She needs a family dedicated to helping her grow academically and to finding the individual strengths that will translate into a promising independent future.
Maria is a fun, curious young lady who engages with people easily. She is a happy child who likes to be where the action is! She is very physically active and very much enjoys sports- swimming, soccer, and running. Her successes in school sports have been a highlight for her recently. Maria maintains a positive outlook and is very pleasant to be around. She is very curious and asks lots of questions to help her better understand what is on her mind. It is still being decided if Maria needs extra support in school, and what that extra help will look like. Her forever family can help her by addressing her educational needs and utilizing community resources that will support her growth.
Guadalupe, or Lupe as she is better known, has an infectious grin and a happy personality. Her adorable smile and a bat of her long eyelashes help her get what she wants much of the time. She responds well to fairness and can handle it when she doesn’t get what she wants. Lupe likes playing house, playing with dolls, helping her foster mother in the kitchen, and bouncing on the family trampoline. Lupe is very social and seems to make friends easily. She rarely has behavioral issues and is well liked by her teachers and foster parents alike. Lupe does not receive special services in school, but will benefit from a family who can help her stay on track with her schoolwork and remember to turn in homework.
Ramon is a happy child who is thriving in school. He is adored by his teachers and is good at making friends. He is doing quite well and is on target with his educational goals. He is mechanically minded and likes toys that he can put together and take apart. Ramon has a stubborn streak to him but with a little negotiating and a bit of time he’ll be back to his smiling self. Ramon enjoys rough-and-tumble outside play.
Dalia is the baby of the group but is growing up fast! She has an active imagination and loves to play with dolls and toys. She is talking more and more these days as she has entered preschool. She is enjoying the social nature of school and like her siblings, finds making new friends quite effortless. Dalia is very affectionate and enjoys the company of other people but also plays alone well. She shares her brother and sisters’ easy smile and enchanting laugh. Dalia is fully potty trained and is adaptable to new routines.
These children have spent time apart in foster care and are excited to be reunited in an adoptive home. While each child is not being cared for exclusively, they do not live together as a sibling group. They have a strong bond with members of their birth family, maintain regular visitation, and continued visits will be a part of the adoption plan. An adoptive family will need to demonstrate a clear commitment to helping these children maintain their close birth family ties.
While Maria alone receives therapeutic support, it is suggested that all children and their forever family participate in counseling together to aid in the transition to adoption. These children will need time to adjust and assurance that their needs will continue to be met, that they will not lose their connection to important people in their lives as a result of being adopted, and that this placement is final.
All of the children, for the most part, are bilingual in Spanish and English; however, they speak primarily English. Because they are not legally free, interested adoptive parents making an inquiry must be licensed for foster care and have an adoption homestudy already approved and ready to be forwarded by the family’s adoption worker to their Oregon state caseworker for review and evaluation.
Angie, Maria, Lupe, Ramon and Dalia need a family that can nurture each child individually, and together. Angie deserves a family who will help her continue to grow into a confident young lady, secure in knowing that she does not need to parent her younger siblings. This family will also help Maria continue to manage her attention issues (especially in school) while harnessing all that energy and curiosity towards positive outcomes. Lupe should have a family who will show her how to pair responsibility and focus with her abundant charm. This new family would keep Ramon and Dalia excited about learning and help them adjust to the positive changes that come with being adopted. The amazing family that will keep them grounded in predictability while preparing for the future will find the most success with this charming group. These adventure-loving kids will thrive with a family who wants to play, to experience the simple joys and curiosities of childhood, and one who is prepared to smile and laugh a lot more because these children are a lot of fun!
